It is a kind of nickel-copper alloy, and it is consumed largely in many different fields since its great comprehensive property. It has very high strength, and it resists corrosion in many mediums such as sea water, hydrofluoric acid, Sulfuric acid and alkali. In hydrofluoric acid, fluorine and hot thickalkali liquor, Monel 400 works well. One important property of this alloy is that it does not generate cracks cause by stress corrosion.
nickel-copper alloy able to be precipitation hardening. It has similar corrosion resistance with Monel 400, but has stronger strength and hardness. It has low magnetic permeability, and when the working temperature lower than -101℃, it is nonmagnetic. Under the aging state, the mechanical property of Monel K-500 is 2-3 times stronger than Monel 400, even when the temperature reach 600℃, it still has the high tensile strength, fatigue corrosion resistance and relatively lower magnetic permeability.
Working in the Humid atmosphere and sea water, the corrosion resistance of titanium alloy is far superior to stainless steel. It strongly resist to pitting, acid etching and stress corrosion; also, titanium alloy has excellent resistance to corrosion of alkali, chloride, chloride organic matters, Nitric acid, Sulfuric acid etc. High purity titanium, in the Corrosive medium, will generate a layer of oxide film, which is compact, strong adhesive and inertness, on the surface, and it called passivation phenomenon. Titanium alloy will keep the required strength in the temperature of 150-500℃, however, the specific strength of aluminium alloy will dramatic decline when the temperature get 150℃ or higher.
